Visit the most popular tourist attraction in Bangkok, The Royal Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha (WatPhra Kaew) The glittering Grand Palace in Bangkok is an architectural wonder that was once home to the kings of the Chakri Dynasty. Wat Phra Kaeo (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) Both the Grand Palace and Temple of Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) are situated in the same compound. They are among the top must-visit destinations in Thailand. Wat Phra Kaew is commonly known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. It is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand. The complex consists of a number of buildings within the
precincts of the Grand Palace in the historical center of Bangkok. It houses the statue of the Emerald Buddha. Get insight into the history and culture with our local expert tour guide.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market Our first stop of the day will be the famous floating market Damnoen Saduak. You will board a long-tail boat for a ride through the canals. Morning hours see the river waters of this district packed with hundreds of vendors on small boats selling copious amounts of exotic, fresh fruits and vegetables, agricultural produce as well as authentic, local sweets, delicacies, and souvenirs.
The Damnoen Saduak Canal was ordered to be built in 1866 by King Rama IV to facilitate waterborne travels between Ratchaburi and Samut Sakhon provinces. It was finished and opened to the public in 1868. Photos of this vibrant market featuring many small boats laden with colorful fruits and vegetables, are among the most often published in travel magazines and brochures of Thailand.
Maeklong Railway Market (Talad Rom Hub).
Our next stop will be the amazing Mae Klong Railway Market, locally known as Talat Rom Hoop (‘Market Umbrella Close’). Imagine a train going straight through a public market! The Mae Klong Railway Marke has been around since 1905. Fishing was (and still is) one of the main livelihoods of the people who lived here, and the market was another way in which to sell their goods. Officials decided to build a railway in order to better deliver these goods to other provinces. The market remained, however, despite the new tracks that cut through it. We’ll stroll over the market and hopefully see the train arrive or depart before going back to Bangkok.
Day four is at your leisure, allowing you the freedom to explore Bangkok on your own or opt for additional tours to tailor your experience further. Our team is happy to assist with any additional excursions you may wish to undertake.
